You're not going to like the seatpost/stem extension on a 51 Appa if it bothered you on a 52 Clem. I'm 80ish PBH, short arms and fit well on a 55 Cheviot. I think the fit should work for you, but you're correct that it might be a little underbuilt (maybe talk to Riv about it). For a stout Riv

Why use p-clamps? It looks like there are 2 holes (possibly threaded) in the dropouts -- they're lower and farther back, would be more secure mounting points, and would make the rack geometry better (less backward tilting). I'm presuming the tilt is to try to avoid heel strike with panniers?
