It’s hard to say how long tires last. The heat and dryness out here can crack
tires but I haven’t had it happen. Use, disuse, miles - it all affects the
tire. I had my Betz tires for 5 years before I wore them down to the fabric. I
could see the air in those tires!
Oh, you asked about the WTB
I do love Rivelo... Could you send me a pic?
Thanks,

My small grey grid saddlesack is still available. It has been a week so I
will reduce the price to $75.00 plus shipping from 46208. I will also
include a Nitto Wire Guard for canti brakes, which I neglected to include
in the first posting. Please PM if interested. Bob

Hey Bunch,
Does anyone have a Rivendell Pocket Tender in good shape they’d be willing to
part with? I missed out when I had the chance. I can always order a non-riv one
from Randi Jo, but thought I’d check here first.
Cheers,

How long do tires last? Is it the number of miles (and how many), the age,
environmental, a combination? Would these tires last longer I suppose,
because the material is thicker (assuming all material is exactly equal,
which probably isn't true).
I know nothing of tires, but am curious. I'm
Hey all,
I’m looking for a new bike for our daughter. Truth told most of our miles are
around the city but we take to gravel now and again. She doesn’t want a
mountain bike. Something step through and more upright like a Clem or a Chev
are interesting but I don’t want to spend that much
On university campuses, I personally worry the most about damage from other
bikes. Sometimes they get tangled up and get damaged when the owners try to
separate them. Once I saw a young man get frustrated and go straight down
the rack, kicking every bike as hard as he could. It was a huge mess
And with John’s answer we have a winner! Thanks John!
Next: did you use the Velocity 21mm tape and valves?
Which sealant did you use? Orange Endurance? Stan’s?

I have about 1 cm clearance on my Roadeo on both the front and back
calipers with Tektro 539s with GB Cypres tires, which run about 30 mm (no

I eventually switched out my stock 110 BB with a 113 BB and can now run a

I recently sold a Nitto Big Rack because I no longer had a bike for it, now I
have a bike for it and no rack. Brilliant! Looking for anything in silver

to treat as an heirloom. I have a slight bias towards keeping
Thanks Kai. A tan bag and green sharpies...I'm very intrigued now. I will
keep your super generous offer in mind if I can't locate an Olive one.

Thanks for all the comments! I think I will just leave it as is. I have a good
lock collection from my time in Philly that will be shipped over with the bike.
Though I might place a sticker here or there to make it look a bit less
precious! I'll also use the ball-bearing trick. Looking forward

I've traveled all over the UK with a bike and never even had a bag stolen
off of it. Just be smart locking it up, and maybe grab a cable lock or two

Other ideas. Buy ball bearings that barely fit inside allen wrench
key-holes and smear them in there with bees wax. You have to melt the wax
to get them out.
Lock your bike between other bikes and lock the wheels and frame (I keep a

Before we forget, welcome to the SF Bay Area! The weather for the next week or

remember to bring a windbreaker jacket or vest, for those long downhills that

David, I really like the drive side shot of your Clem next to the brick
wall. Also nice to see some Clem **H** love. I have a dark green 59, and
recently installed a VO Curvy Bar; it's a bit wider than the A+M, but has
no rise (very similar to Riv's Wavie). If I were doing mostly

I agree. Velo Orange has skewers that use a unique allen wrench. I have
