Previous folks have covered most of it here but I'll add my personal
experience:
I had previously used Bosco Bars and never really gelled with them so I put
the Nitto Bullbar with a very short stem on my Susie as I was worried about
swept back bars making trail riding and climbing too awkward.
My sense with Rivs is that Grant builds bikes for how he likes to ride, and
on his local terrain. That sounds selfish and limited in a sense, but I
think it's what makes the bikes so great too - they're not trying to find
some balance for all sorts of different scenarios, so they're afforded
That's interesting, I might give some a shot this spring. I get the feeling
that much colder than low 40's would be too cold for most Neoprene options
but I don't really know. Usually when it's 45+F I am pretty happy with wool
and a shell that's at least waterproof enough to keep the majority
Bought these and wore them for 10 minutes on the sofa before realizing they
are very warm and make my feet way too hot.

The John’s straps are just ok in my opinion. Fine for short trips where you don’t really need it to be super secure. I always feel like I can never get them tight enough.2nd on Voile straps. I never have to worry if I have them tight enough… they just hold and grip and perform perfectly. If you
I'd highly recommend Voile straps or similar knock-off ("Grunt" here in
Australia) urethane straps. Their combination of stretch and grip are, in my
experience, just right for securing loads on a bouncing, vibrating
bike.cheers,Andrew in Sydney

Hey gang,
I’m fed up with not having a few good straps around for maintenance and
securing cargo.
Does anyone have any John’s straps in irish or watermelon to spare?
I would love to purchase a couple if they are out there.
Also, if anyone has other strap recommendations or favorite
Matt,
I do not know of any Italian made Rivendells. This is for those are
interested in Italian made bicycles, aside from interests in Rivendell
bicycles.

That sounds familiar. :-(

I think those May dates work for me.

Good idea! I found the street address of my nearest post office and changed
my answer to that. It's close enough, and if any bike thieves go there,
they'll be very, very, confused.

Good suggestions Keith. The map doesn't really need a specific address to
work, just someplace nearby. Also, your suggestion about models and sizes
has been added to the form.
Answers can be edited on the form should people choose to add this info (or
delete specific street addresses).

Asheville gathering and the May 12, 13, 14 weekend is best for those who
responded. Does that date work with others who didn't respond? Or should I

I have couple of suggestions, more for the participant pi-droppers than
for John:
1) Please be cautious and think twice about listing your actual home
address. Especially if you
