Thanks for reaching out, Patrick.
I don't have bags to trade but I'm happy to buy your HappiSack so you can
purchase the panniers of your dreams :)

I've been told to expect cantilever posts and clearance for 700 x 50.

Yes, that is from Grant's new blog. Its a bit wide for me but there is lots
to like about it.

Between this and the production spec of the Charlie, it's clear that the
new models are simply splitting hairs between existing models - no shame in
it, I love to see the additional resolution within the world of Rivendells
- but splitting hairs nonetheless! The Charlie has become a

It'll be like a Hilsen but singlespeed but you can mount a derailleur like
a Hilsen.

All: If anyone has any good to new Soma Supple Vitesse *SL* tires (360 gram
model) in 622X48 mm to sell, I'm interested.
Arthur and everyone else: How do the SSV *EXs* compare to the SSV *SLs*? I
gather the the EXs have a slightly thicker tread are are about 50 grams
heavier; do they roll as well
If it's got caliper brakes like a Hilsen, that will send some people into a
tizzy. The suspected derailleur hanger sent a different set of people into
a tizzy. If it's got long chainstays and a sloping TT, then that's two
more tizzy-groups. The tizzy venn-diagram will be interesting to map
sold locally, thanks all!

My hand does move slightly forward to shift one direction, and slightly
back to shift the other. But both positions are comfortable and natural.
Getti g leverage is easy both ways without having to let go of the bar
while shifting, which is one of the problems I have the single thumb lever,
The "Joe's influence" thing is kinda circular. My original inspiration was
another Riv Custom that looked a lot like this, then Grant dropped my
toptube a bit lower.

The Albatross is my favorite upright bar. I'm a fairly tall guy with fairly
big hands and it really only has 1 1/2 hand positions for me but I love the
feel of it. It's stiff enough for trails, upright enough to commute on,
etc. They live on my older Toyo Atlantis. I do think the newer
I like it too. Interesting evolution. I like the fact that Riv shares it
with us, even if it occasionally means that you get attached to something
that won't happen. I imagine this helps keep the lug manufacturer busy
and committed. Plus, VO sort of stole some thunder when they knocked
I prefer a full low mixte or the swoopy hillybike style to a higher angle
but Rivendell doesn't do anything I would consider unpleasing to the eye. I
will need to see full geometry but it seems like this is just a Platy with
a slightly higher top tube. I doubt the tube set is different so
Somebody mentioned them earlier, I think Patrick -- the Soma Supple Vitesse

I'm a Billie Bar convert thanks to a kind list member and prefer them for
the extra hand position in front of the brake levers. Yes they could look
nicer with some extra rise, I'd prefer to look at a swooped up bar than a
tall stem but that doesn't impact my ride only my gaze when looking at my
I've been riding Billie bars on my 90s Novara mtb for about two years and
absolutely love them for all the reasons Eric mentioned.
I have two critiques: I wish they had a little bit more rise and they just
aren't quite as aesthetically appealing as Albatross bars, which just seem
to have a
I thought I had a buyer but things fell thru. Still on the block!
Also have a medium black Riv t shirt and VeloCult, only worn maybe twice.
Its the pocket tee with the fork lug on the back. Any takers?

There’s never enough tire nerding.
I’m going to check out the Spec Pathfinder Pro that people are so fond of.
I ended up retaping my wheels since I had a very slow leak with the
Snoqualmie Pass rear. It seemed to hold for a few hours and then dipped to
the 20s like usual. It’s not the worst
Thanks for all the thoughts. I'm definitely curious how things would be
different tubeless, but am on Dyads, so not happening soon--unless someone
has a tubeless wheelset they want to trade for Dyads . . .
The update here is that I did get the Terra Speeds in 40mm. FWIW, a better
comparison
My problem with a sweptback extending forward before coming back is that,
yes, it offers a hand position in front of the stem similar to drops but
the stems are so long to accommodate the sweepback that the forward
position is way to far out to be really useful.

I think you made the right decision, at least for now. From what I'm seeing
of my particular bikes of interest in FS sections NOTHING is selling right
now. I assume the price of gas and eggs has hit everybody pretty hard, plus
ebikes have fully invaded the used bike market. It's tough sledding
