You might look for these used XTR 9-speed RDs on ebay: rd-m952
They work with 9-speed and have barrel adjusters.
Or there is an XT version. RD-M750
With these RDs you don't have to worry about cassette size or chain wrap
capacity.

Any recommendations for touch-up paint for the off-white paint on Rivendell

Plus lots of shorter brevets on all three bikes.
Blue Rambouillet was totalled in 2008 when hit by a car, bought the orange

Will be riding with a friend Dawn on a green Rambouillet

I've seen you post on this subject before.
Are you saying you've gone three days without eating anything, while being

Somehow that does not seem healthy to me.
Surely there are some downsides to such behavior?

I too rode my bike home when I was laid off in 2008. Not a Rivendell, but

They were not as nice though, no one offered me a cab ride home, even
though it was a 22 mile ride.
In my case I hated working there, so was happy to be gone. It did take a

It seems that everyone agrees that losing 25 lbs would be better than
lightening the bike by 4 lbs.
A different question: If the rider lost 4 lbs would that be equivalent to
riding a bike that was 4 lbs lighter?
For example, last weekend I rode out 20 miles to pick up two 2-lb jars of
honey.

I doubt that the 105 will work.
You will most likely need a mountain RD to accommodate a 34-T cog.
An inexpensive example: Shimano Alivio M410

Keep your Shimano brakes, but compromise with levers like these:

I think there is also a Campy model.

Yes 650B is the way to go if you want fenders or tires larger than 28mm.
I have an RB1, with over 30K miles on it, and I still like riding it.
It was even my initial randonneuring bike, and I still ride it on brevets
occasionally.
But it is not a bike for all rides, at least not with 700s.

Short cage vs long cage has to do with chain wrap capacity, not the largest
