Re: [RBW] Re: Rapid rise derailleur suggestion

High normal refers to “regular” rear derailleurs, for which the default position with no spring tension is in the highest gear. Hence, high normal. Low normal (what Shimano called Rapid Rise) is the opposite: the default derailleur position without spring tension is in the lowest (largest) gear.

Hi, if you have a twin-legger in silver with uncut 320mm legs that you don’t need and want to sell, please let me know in a private message. It would be ideal to have all the mounting hardware, too. Thanks! Jim -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups

I agree with Christian’s general message. If the young man does end up taking the bike to college, make sure he locks it properly and redundantly. Whenever I lock a Rivendell to a rack, I lock the heck out of it. I’m talking three U locks and a thick cable lock. It’s a pain, you have to find the

Exactly, Garth. I continue to run triples, so I have viewed the trend toward purportedly simpler drivetrains with curiosity and from a long distance. I have never felt a need to simplify with a double or especially a 1x configuration. It’s basically a one-time setup for the triple, and with

Yeah, talk to Dustin in the Phil Wood service department. He’s super helpful. I think the general rule is that if the hub is more than about 12 or 15 years old, you’d have to send it in for service because the older designs are not user serviceable. If it’s less, you might be able to service it

Hi m f, welcome! Congrats on the bike. Regarding your question: It seems odd to find an All Rounder, or any Riv for that matter, without rack mounts on the upper/mid fork blade. Would this have been a special request to not have them? It’s not totally unusual for Rivs, particularly early-ish ones,

Doug, we had the same issue with the shiny Riv rack on a Wilbury. I asked the fine folks at Rivendell, who suggested we rig something up with stainless band clamps (or P clamps), the Nitto versions of which (https://www.rivbike.com/products/nitto-band-clamps-pair) have been sold out for a long
