I've put my Saluki through two Cleveland hellish winters (salt, snow,
grime, and all) and it's made it just fine. Just take care of it after
salty rides (wash down and a dry, then lube the chain) and it will be

I've come to the conclusion that the only time I'm ever yelled at,
buzzed, bothered, etc. on a commute is when I'm on a bicycle with
upright handlebars. When I'm on a bike with drop bars, whether I'm in
the drops or not, I never have a problem.

I wanted to take off the rear rack and move to my summer set up but
resisted the urge... maybe next week. I've been riding with Strala
Vinters for a while now - warm in cold temps and on snowy and rainy
days they keep the moisture out. Looking forward to when they'll be
uncomfortably hot.

Saluki to replace Shimano r550 cantis and probably should have asked
around to hear what folks thought of them.
Anyone with experience using these?

I've spent a number of winters with steel frames encased in salt. I do
clean them regularly, but all the same, rust does form. Isn't it a
protective seal against further corrosion, though? I've convinced
myself that it's all largely cosmetic and that any steel frame can
withstand salt thrown at it

I find that cleaning the rims is the only option. I have to do this
every few days. I clean them with a citrus solution (recommended by
Sheldon Brown). I'm running Shimano 550 cantilevers.
