Thank you Garth, I was wondering if such adapters were available. The Deore RD has a long cage, so it might be a good candidate. I'll have to do some investigate to make sure. JohnS On Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 2:05:48 AM UTC-4, Garth wrote: > > Hey John, one of derailleur tab extenders like a

Hey John, one of derailleur tab extenders like a Wolf Roadlink allows the use of such large cogs with derailleurs that couldn't otherwise work. It doesn't alter the RD ch!in wrap capacity of course, just the ability to work with huge cogs. So an 11-46 1x should work with even the older RD's

Thank you Aaron and DP for the feedback. I have to dial in the additional cost/search for a new rear derailleur. The vintage Deore most likely won't work with the gearing range. JohnS On Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 6:58:13 PM UTC-4, Deacon Patrick wrote: > > Smooth as butter, John. I think

Smooth as butter, John. I think he'll really like the set-up. The range of the Silver shifter allows for non-fiddly shifting. The first round of Silver Shifters seemed to be fussy, needing just a bit of range per gear, making it tricky to shift on a jouncy trail. Not so with two. The derailure

In this same vein, I’m running the Microshift Advent 9 speed 11-42 derailleur, cassette (Steel), And trigger shifter. I think it came out to $130 or so for the group set, and it’s been great on my fillet brazed 29+. You could use their thumbies if you wanted friction shifting. I’m surprised

Hello DP, How's the Box drive train working out for you? I'm considering the Box 3 prime 9 11-46 cassette and Box 3 prime 9 chain for my Salsa Casseroll which my teenage son has been riding. He's not interested in a front derailleur so a wider range 9 would be good for him. He likes the Silver

One word review from first full ride on all surfaces: Solid. More word review: Each gear feels closer to the solidity of fixed gear or single speed, I presume because of the combo of 9 speed chain and steel cogs. Interestingly, this gives a wider range of comfort for each gear. With the 11

Hey Ed. Aye, Joe spotted it: Box Components. Easy to miss, being a fairly generic sounding name. I got this groupset: https://www.boxcomponents.com/Box-Two-P9-X-Wide-Multi-Shift-Groupset_2 The cassette is steel cogs, so should last a good long while. Box offer several price points, creatively
