I have the cheapos around here somewhere. They work great.

Silvers do fit directly on sun race bases. You might need to file off a tiny
nubby thing. Let me know if you need help.

Ian and Bill, I have a question for you. I decided to replace the Nitto
Noodles on my Homer with Albatross bars and ordered the aforesaid Sunraces
a week before I encountered this string. Since I used Silver shifters on
my Noodles, I still have them. Here's the question: Do they mount to
I use some cheapo click-but-don't-index Sunrace shifters I got from Amazon
(https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007QMJH86?vs=1) on my late 80s Rockhopper
adventure/mtb. I absolutely love them and prefer them to the Shimano Ultegras
on my Sam, which I also run in friction mode. I love the clicks! As
Interesting, Justin. I have a SunRace 8-speed thumbie which I'm also not
thrilled with. It indexes fine, but the action is too hard. Sometimes I have to
grab the thing with my whole hand to get the shift. I've used Shimano indexed
bar-cons in both positions, and they're definitely
I have SunRace actual indexed barcons that I'm not too fond of. I think I'm
going to widening my handlebars and in that process will probably spring for
new barcons made by Shimano.

I appreciate the offer for the spare, but I'll probably get some silver
shifters in the near future and mount them on the Sunrace clamp. Just
wanted to see if they could get better before they get replaced. Sadly
short life span.

I tried these on the Clem I rode at RBW. Kudos to anyone who can ride them, I'm
not that guy.

I have these on 3 bikes, generally they are OK, but the right one I struggle
with from time to time.
I recently was using my Rawland which has Silver Shifters and was really
noticing how much better they worked Vs. the Sun Race.
Check the tightness of the retaining screw, it may be loose!?

I'd also like to know this info. I've been running mine for the same amount
of time. My left is fine, but my right skips. It's not as bad as what you
describe, and I thought it may even be that I didn't file my brake housing
enough and something's interfering with the cable running smoothly
I don't have maintenance advice but I did disassemble a pair of these
shifters to use the clamping part for one project and the cable stop part
for another project. The shifter part is the only part that remains. You
can just have it if you want. Pay it forward to somebody who needs
