Interior casing failures can happen from manufacturing defects. I've seen
it a fair bit, most commonly on continental tires. I doubt that it's from
anything you did. Tires should be tested well past their maximum listed
psi so I doubt that a short period of high pressure (you probably didn't

many miles on them and don't find the bumps to be detectable or a problem.

This series of posts had prompted me to consider the "hop" in a pair of
wheels (650B Velocity Synergy rims with Nifty Swifty tires). After
reapplying the tires, adding extra rim tape, teflon lubricating around the
bead, etc I could not get the hop out of that rotating wheel. Applied a

I've also had this problem with Synergies with various tires. After my
wheelbuilder built it up, he said the rim gave him some trouble, but it was
still true. The double rim tape helped, but tires were still a pain to
mount on and off Synergies.
I've recently got a pair of Dyads built by Rich,
After many hours of effort I'm not sure I'm closer to solving this problem.
And I'm no longer sure it's 100% a rim problem.
A careful examination of the new pari-moto front tire on my Trek revealed
that the colored line that I was advised to keep constant around the rim
was itself not a consta
Thank you. We are heading out tomorrow for three days of the Saranac

the lead to Jan's blog. He wrote: "*Do not ride a poorly seated tire! *The

if it is in a sudden single spot. In my experience, it's usually a 2-3mm
low spot, not a 2-3mm bulge. I'll assume that's what you have.
If that's the case, then what you want to do is:

I've been using whatever tubeless tape that came with the wheels (they were
bought second-hand). It isn't cloth tape. The bead doesn't seem to seat
uniformly all the way around the rim, and dips below the edge in portions
of the circumference.
FWIW, my Babyshoe Pass tires mount easier than the
