Hi Brian, Jason, All, I believe the heater you have is an e.l.m. Leblanc made in France. When Pierre, founder of Controlled Energy Corporation, brought these to the US many moons ago the Aquastar name was added to the cover graphics. The BS model means that this is a temperature (solar)

[RE-wrenches] parallel stacking SW

2013-10-02 Thread Mac Lewis
Hi wrenches, I have some folks that I'm meeting in a couple of days that have 4 Trace SW 5048 inverters. It's a very large, older compound-style installation that the original installer has bailed on. They have it set up so that there is a common battery bank and each pair of series stacked

2013-10-02 Thread Allan Sindelar
Mac, Trace made both the SWI/PAR parallel stacking and a series stacking cable. I don't know if stacking four units in series/parallel is possible. I never investigated it, and the manual (Rev. 4.01) doesn't address it. I suspect that it's not possible,

[RE-wrenches] Kohler 20kW (Generator automatic disconnect)

2013-10-02 Thread Larry Crutcher, Starlight Solar Power Systems
Ray, I heard back from Kohler and they told me that the 20kW has no warranty if used off grid. They have 3 models for off grid use, 14RESA/L, 8.5RES and the 6VSG, which have an 18 month warranty. Do you know anything otherwise? Larry On Oct 1, 2013, at 8:16 AM, Ray Walters r...@solarray.com

Wrenches, Nick, you are right it is a 5548. I like the separation idea and have investigated this, but each bus feeds separate homes that are quite a distance away. Alan, I forgot to mention that they often get nuisance overcurrent errors on each phase of the heavily used inverters. That was why

I have had 20kw, 30 kw, and 40 kw units in the field for years. The warranty issue must be a newer thing. These are water cooled, 1800 rpm units so I don't see what the issue is. All the units you listed are on the small side. So if an oil company deploys one of these remotely, is Kohler

It turns out it's a PVS-100, and it has a fault 13 (hardware fault) and a fault 57 (inv overtemp 1 / Inverter hardware overtemperature 1). I wasn't able to stay long enough to observe the main fan running, but the owner believes it does. The filters and cabinet are clean. Supposedly the fault

Ray, I had thought about this but it seems that with all inverters paralleled and controlled through the router that it would not allow one to charge and pass through the generator power while the others are inverting. Do you know a way of doing this. Larry On Oct 1, 2013, at 9:10 PM, Ray

What about running the genny through one inverter and putting a transfer switch on the AC out which opens the ac out. Meaning 100% charging but no loads. Jay Sent from my iPhone On Oct 2, 2013, at 9:50 AM, Larry Crutcher, Starlight Solar Power Systems la...@starlightsolar.com wrote:

If you mean automatic transfer, how would you trigger it since AC power will be present from both sources at the inverter output? Do you mean a N.C. contactor that would open on gen power, something like attached drawing?Larry On Oct 2, 2013, at 10:37 AM, Jay Peltz j...@asis.com wrote:What about
