Jerry,
Do you have any recommended manu's for these type chargers. Occasionally I
run into situations where this type of solution could be a reasonable
option.
Thanks,
Howie

There are several 48 volt golf cart chargers out there with a varity of
outputs and some programable for different batteries. They work well with
even dirty gennies and use a shunt in the set up so there is no fmdc
issues. I use this set up when l cant take a chance on switch over issues
Hi Gary
Well if the customer wants it that way. It'll work no issues.
I agree with the IBE.
IBE make big industrial ones.
I'm not sure what other big options there are.
Iota or power source make smaller solid state ones, that you would scale to
your needs.
As it sounds like he's got
Hi Gary,
25 years ago I bought an IBE industrial rated charger to top off my IBE
batteries with the gen set. If your client just can’t get over hooking up the
radian to the gen set, you might just check out IBE and see if they are still
making these, as mine is still working.

My question would be: Is the Generator large enough to handle 12-14Kw of
total (Pass thru/Charging) load? If so then my comment to the client
would be "What, you want to spend more money when you have a 120amp
available charger?" There is no reason to do this
Tell your client that the Outback Radian is an "inverter/charger" and the
only things that need to programmed for charging via generator or grid are
bulk, absorb, float and equalize. Nothing needs to be set on automatic.
Adding an external charger would be a waste of money. How about telling
them
Gary,
Is this an off-grid system? In any case, there is no reason that connecting
the generator through the Radian means the batteries will charge
automatically. And to not use the native charging capabilities of the
Radian doesn't make much sense financially or functionally. Any other
charger
I have a customer that has an 8 kW outback radian system with a 516amphr 48
volt battery bank. He also has a large generator to power some large
loads. He does not want the generator tied to the outback. He
does not like automatic features but would like to run a simple battery
charger whenever
