it does depend on your customer, if you never want to have to go out in the
rain and fix cracked tiles under the array, Tile will fail under an array
dry out and crack, freeze and crack, they all crack, I always quote to
strip the roof, comp it and install your array, it will look better
Never had a ground mount leak! Fire season and the people who fight
them are big fans of not using a roof!

Hi All - William makes some really good points - the underlayment can be a
big problem on tile roofs. We have a (nearly) squeaky clean track record
with roof leaks, but have had one nightmare of a problem on an old tile
roof where the felt underlayment was failing and leaking essentially all
over

One issue is if the roof is rated for added weight of the solar in addition to
the tile.
If its not, then one technique is to remove the tiles, install some other
roofing material such as composition shingles and then install the solar over
that.

I don't like how the hooks flex in high winds. They can break tiles.

Im looking for recommendations on the best way to mount solar on tile
roofs. We don't have too many tile roofs in our area and admittedly we are
afraid of them. I know some of you are probably doing this all of the
