Some of these BMSs are not very tolerant of heavy loads... the heavier load may have triggered the BMS to shut down and go into self-protect mode. It can take a few hours to days for voltage to recover. Isolate the battery from the parallel connections and give a few days of no load time to

The Franklin with capacitor Jbox at top of well helps with the surge. It is not what you would call soft start! An ammeter (or a loud generator) on a soft start pump will tell you what you have. A nice slow over 10 seconds ramping up of amps or gen noise when the pump is energized. You

Look at a variable speed pump from Grundfos. Not as many choices for large pumping apps. The SQ Flex pump is basically a VFD when used with the controller. It can direct run from solar which tells you there is no surge. Even the SQ pump without the controller will soft start and should

For high surge and unbalanced splitphase loads, you can’t beat a Midnite Solar Rosie Inverter. It uses Sic FET’s and is rock solid. I have an early unit and it’s starts my 5hp compressor and still runs other loads without a flicker. Runs loads that even my Schneider XW+ would not. Why

Interesting the variation in experiences. Most of my jobs are off-grid these days which almost always means a (reliable) well pump need.  I'd entertain the idea of 3-phase with VFD but that's quite a bit more  initial expense for this customer and possible higher long term costs with the VFD
