HI Allan and all, I”m with Dave when it comes to designing and cobbling together a fix for an incredibly expensive piece of equipment. Sure I can get it to work, but who’s fault is it when it doesn’t? And it does bring up the interesting point about where are the temp sensors located? Would

Hello, Jay & All~ Anytime the battery mfr. has a solution that is pre-baked into their product--that's +1 for avoiding later warranty disputes, etc. I'm glad to learn that LifeBlue is doing a "divert the charge DC method" for cold lithiums, which seems quite logical to me. +++

I am trying out an insulated box and small heater. It doesn't get very cold in West Coast scotland so 120W seems useful. Also automatic vents used on greenhouses, to open up the sealed box. On Fri 17 May 2019, 18:09 Dave Angelini Offgrid Solar, wrote: > The risk may be worth it if the battery is

The risk may be worth it if the battery is inexpensive. I have a client who has a neighbor who had to leave his home in Canada for a funeral. Things snowballed and the road washed out. He could not get home for a week and lost his well over 10K LFP battery. The battery logged the temp and warrant

Jay, I faced this issue recently with a Blue Ion system. Blue Planet tech support sent me a clear description of the solution worked out by a Utah installer, Gardner Energy in West Haven, that was brilliant. It used an 18W and a 24W reptile terrarium heater placed between layers of batteries

Jay,             I would think this might be pretty riskyI think of the difficulty in being sure all the cells were uniformly warmed.  I guess if they were in an enclosure and the ambient in there was held at some determined temp for ? (many) hours then one could assume? all the cells wer

Hi Jay, Within the next couple of weeks LiFeBlue Battery will be shipping the new Low temperature models. They have a heater built in and if the cells are below 32°F, charge current is diverted to heat the cells above freezing before transferring full charge current. All handled by the internal

Try heated seed mats. They seem to work pretty well if you have an available power source nearby. https://www.amazon.com/MT10004-Waterproof-Certified-Hydroponic-Germination/dp/B0044U4F5I On Fri, May 17, 2019 at 8:26 AM jay wrote: > HI All, > > I”m wondering if anyone has suggestions about how t

HI All, I”m wondering if anyone has suggestions about how to charge a Lithium battery in RV or in this case Polarius in sub zero temps. Are there batteries that have heaters built in, or is it still a custom design issue to build a heating system? ( insulation and heaters) Thanks, jay pelt
