If you don't mind only running your Kiosk on Linux, you can make most of
the browsers (or other applications) full screen/no borders/no gadgets
with controls under rebol program control by customzing a window manager
(like TWM) and using that with the X Window system.

Two things come to mind. They aren't answers to your questions, but just
some thoughts based on my experience.
1) For debugging purposes, you want to be ablel to plug in a keyboard and
get to the OS very easily.
