Here is what I did to convert to rpm-4: 1. Tried to patch from "Gene C." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> to include v4 in rpm-3.0.4-7: Did not build any longer, since I'm now using glibc-2.1.90. 2. Tried the same patch with rpm-3.1-0.21 from an earlier rawhide: Unfortunately a corrupt version. 3.

I built rpm v4 from CVS tree and then installed the rpm v4 packages from rawhide only to encounter the exact problems you describe with names and such being screwed up. To fix I went back to the CVS source did make install again to replace the rpm installed by the rawhide packages, and did a rp
