Is it possible to change
login stream tcp nowait root/usr/sbin/tcpd in.rlogind
into somehting that takes in ssh ?
if so, how do I go abt it?
(assuming I have ssh installed..)

the ver 5 that I used from Infomagic had all rpms at less than 8 chrs, so I
guess it would work, but I have not done itjust an idea

Windows doesn't recognise the long filenames on redhat cd's (they're not
Joliet -- AFAIK) so network install's fail if the cd is in a window
I just upgraded one of my machines from 6.0 to 6.1 and when I tried to
compile php 3.12 it crashed with the following error.
gcc: Internal compiler error: program cpp got fatal signal 11
Any ideas? This compiled fine on my 6.0 machine.

As long as the PCMCIA network card is supported, the RedHat PCMCIA
disk image can be used to create a boot disk.

I have installed a RH6.1 distro and am trying to install a Teles HFC-S ISDN
card now. I can get the card working by loading the module at the prompt,
giving a 'modprobe hisax', but the module is not loaded at boot. I have
checked the /etc/rc.d/init.d/isdn file and it contains the line 'mod
rdist uses rsh and friends. If you are using rdist as root, as
is most likely, you will need to take care of the file /etc/securetty on each
target host (I move the file to /etc/securetty.orig so it's not seen).
I believe you will also have to either have either a .rhosts
file owned by root in
COMPILATION OF NETSCAPE COMMUNICATOR
lockup problem related to it wanting an internet connection.
So far the only solution is to install the NETSCAPE rpm
after de-installing the Communicator rpm (v4.7-2). But
we all want a real fix. Also, one sorta-kinda work-around

I have a leased line with courier v.everything modems at both ends
SO: RedHat 6.0
the originator has AT command enabled and connects just fine.
when I start the system pppd gets LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests.
After I get minicom up and send ATZ to the modem pppd connects just fine.

IMAP RPM also installs a POP3 server by default, for instance you could
have got qpopper or cucipop like I use, there is no IMAP server installed
