I am a newbie and recently installed RedHat 7.2 from CD-ROM. Now, I can't
mount the same CD-ROM (drive is SCSI, ID=5) from a command prompt -
mount /mnt/cdrom
mount: /dev/cdrom: unknown device
in /etc/log/messages -
insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.7-10/kernel/drivers/scsi/sr_mod.o: insmod

server. 500mhz 160mb ram. I have setup the PPPOE Through the control
panel. Every couple of minutes the connection drops and then reconnects
with a new IP address. I need it to stay constant to run apache. I
am using a update service to send the new ip to a
RH72 with all latest updates and Ximian gnome.
I get these daily logwatch emails and in them there is a strange entry that
I'm not sure the meaning of. I searched for documentation on it but fail to
see if this is anything to be concerned about.

is there any reason that a non-root user shouldn't be allowed
to run "e2label" just to *see* the label of a partition? after all,
non-root users can run things like "mount" to see what's mounted,
as long as they're not trying to modify anything.
and running "e2label" with no args as a non-r

There's no point in creating a firewall that's got both NICs in the
same network. Two NICs in the same collision domain's another story.

I have a new system that includes a DDS4 tape drive. The
old system has a DDS tape drive (DDS1 I think). I would
like to transfer files (about 5Gb) from the old to new
system using tape, but the DDS4 tape drive will not read
the DDS tapes ... instead gives me a read error ... "input/output error"
Thanks to all who have helped me achieve what I wanted to do, all your
suggestions have helped.

If the 'cd $1' fails (due to an invalid path), the next command will list the
current working directory - wherever that may be.
