Hi Bret,
An alternative approach that worked for me: I've set up an Athlon-based machine (not a laptop) using the Up2date utility. I installed the standard RH CDs and then when up2date ran it automatically detected the new kernel requirements and downloaded them. The machine is running fine. Th
I need to build a kernel for my duron based laptop that I recently

suggests that you make sure you can sucessfully build a kernel before
adding the win4lin patches and so I DLed the latest kernel source from

Mike,
I read through this errata and the major areas seem to be addressed
but why does RedHat do it this way? To me it would seem far easier to
just issue an upgrade to httpd-2.0.43 and openssl 0.97 or 0.96h than to
go through all the effort to extract the fixes between 2.0.40 and
2.0.43 and the
I'm not sure if this got through the first time:
I'm trying to install libpng-1.2.2-6 on my RedHat 7.3 machine, but when
I run RPM it lists a bunch of packages that need the old version of
libpng. The lines are like this:
libpng.so.2 is needed by xine-0.9.8-4
libpng.so.2 is needed by chromiu
Happy New Year all.
Has anyone ever set-up a Red Hat box with one wireless for Ethernet
connection for internal traffic and the other a USB connection to a ADSL
Speed Touch Modem. If so can you please point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance

Hello Gerry,
Are you sure that the latest release from Red Hat does not secure your
system to your satisfaction? Red Hat has their own version definitions
which do not translate back to the Apache releases at Apache.org. The

All of these are a bit dated, but you can probably use a mailing list for
any problems you run into.

There are some security holes with the version of Apache
webserver (httpd-2.0.40) that ships with RedHat 8.0. There are also
security holes with regard to the RH8 OpenSSL version 0.96b (need 0.96h
or later to plug them). There are also issues with Apache mod_jk2

Hi all!
I want to make my server as a mirror ftp site for some sites (like patch, antivirus
update), so that our users can download file from local server instead of
downloading them from remote ftp site. How can I make this?

Check your BIOS. You may wish to remove "Assign IRQ to Video" or even disable
COM2 if it's not in use. At least you would free up an IRQ for use.

I found a post on that indicated I might have an IRQ conflict, so I set IRQ to
0 using setserial, and problem is resolved. The post also indicated this is
not a good solution, however. Any thoughts on this? Is there any harm in
leaving /dev/ttyS2 with IRQ=0? I use the port only for this pilo
