I am a new user of Linux.
I got a LAN at my home between my PCs.
Now i want to have samba configured for
connectivity between my Linux and windows98 box.
Can U pls inform me the sequence of doing this
in simple words. :)

What is the security level in your [global] section
?
if you dont want the system to complain about a
password each time you want access the resources, it should be set to
'SHARE'
also, you must provide a 'guest account' in order
to the system to know who is accessing

I am not sure what kind of smb.conf Redhat comes with, but if the
smb.conf is not setup sufficiently out-of-the-box, the smbd daemon may not
be able to start when your system first starts. So you could see if smbd
is running:
ps -x |grep smbd
Then start it with: smbd -D

and Windows NT.
One of the files I share is a large (200MB) code respository file used
by my development environment. When I set my environment to single
user, ther performance is excellant. On the server, the file is
