Xconfigurator has only caused me pain with XFree 4. And mouseconfig may be
similarly slanted for version 3.
Instead, read the manual entry for XF86Config and edit the file.

I have a G450 Dual head working with two monitors and I love it!
I updraded Redhat 7.0 to kernel 2.4.2 (now 2.4.3 btw)
then I upgraded to Xfree 4.02
downloaded the drivers for the card from Matrox (they were Beta)
recompiled kernel with the AGPPART (spelling) support that is needed
then manuall

I have a G400 dual-head working with a single head using the SVGA drive
and 3.3.6 (RH7.0).
I did have it working XFree86 4.x dual-head at one point too, but I found
it really unstable so I backed off to 3.x
Your card should work fine. Have you tried Xconfigurator?
