Did you recompile your kernel to support 1GB RAM? If not,
that's likely the case...

Is your kernel compiled with support for 2GB? It's 1GB by default, I
think.

While Installing I Kept 500 M RAM, because it was not taken more than
that. But after installation it Accepted to boot with 2G RAM, but it
detected only 1 G.
By default it is 1 G, while installing it is not taking that much.
