I have a pair of 2C UHF ICOMs on a 458 freq. Can I use these on 146
Mhz for a repeater project I am working on or do I need the VHF High

You need high band ICOM's. A good reference is

repeater-builder.com.
Good luck!

Hi Jim,
Typo, make them now and then, was talking Radius R-100.
Now at home and looking at the theory/maintenance manual,
68P84828D54-2, which states:
MC Compact Base Station and Repeater, models covered:
66-88Mhz, 136-174Mhz, 174-225Mhz and 403-470Mhz (in two
ranges, 403-433Mhz and
I think might have I fallen into the commom belief of the ICOM's beind band
specific.
After looking at the P/N's of them, the numbers are the same, except after
the 'G' is different. Is this how they mark updates (like Motorola), or is
it completely different?
Thanks
Jason

They are only different for TX and RX,the fundamental for each band is the
same. The TX Icoms are used from 11 to 13mhz times the appropriate multiplier
for each band, same for RX except different freq range,so dont mix them...

Randy,
I own one of Zetron's 19B Simplexors, and I wonder why they discontinued
this great little device.
My Simplexor is plugged into a Motorola SM50 VHF radio, and it exists
solely to provide a means for local hams to hear how they sound. It
requires PL tone for access, and I have a CSI ID-8
I have never seen a 100 watt maxtrac I have seen 100 watt maratrac's
in lowband but I thought the maxtrac radios maxed out ay 60 watts .bob

Hey all-
I am in the process of putting up a new UHF repeater in the area and
I am looking for any input on which antenna might best suit my needs.
Let me give you some background:
It is a motorola Mitrek 30 watt UHF converted to a full duplex. The
radios are up and running in the shack. I am
Stick with the DB products. You can't go wrong. Remember it is rated in true
dbd not the fake dbi or DBc but real gain.
It will also last a very long time with out having to be replaced. If you
contact be direct I can forward some info to you.

DB-408 will give you decent gain without the extra length and cost of the
DB-420. It has 4-bays (8 elements).
It will give you good close-in coverage with HT's that the higher gain
antennas can't give. If most of your potential users are 10-15 miles away,
the DB-420 (8-bays, 16 elements) is not

Just like to thank you to all the people that responded to my problem, I
have a few options now.
To answer Jack's question, no they use this repeater for all their
communications. Your right it is weird that they never made allowances for
coverage problems. Since Zetron does not make the 19
One issue regarding paging... it's not normally
done with sub tone (PL) on. Some types of pagers
don't like or work well when sub tone is present.
Others won't work at all..

Most synthesized pagers, such as the Minitor III and IV, will not
properly decode a tone if there is another component present (PL or
another tone). Anything with reed filters, such as the Min I or II, will
decode just fine. I guess that's what you call 'progress'. There are
