I agree with you Paul, but more and more repeater sites
are being fitted with computers (for IRLP), so using the
UPS will allow you to power other equipment

I've had problems with RG-213 jumpers lying on the floor inside the shack
that caused desense. Movement of the cable is not necessary to cause desense.

In that price range, a Fluke 179 will do nicely. If you can find a clean,

As a beta tester for Fluke I have thoroughly tested these and other

Gary,
You're right on the money with the safety issue. I was using an inexpensive,
off-brand MM to check the supply voltage on a tower strobe unit when it
unexpectedly shorted. My hearing and vision returned several seconds after the
BANG / FLASH.
I was working alone without eye protection

Mike,
Where do you get those mother boards, sounds like something I would like to

I would have to disagree with that statement. AFAIK, The Mini-ITX
motherboard format calls for the regular ATX style power connector,
requiring most of the same voltages as a regular size ATX motherboard
(sometimes they drop the -5). What most mini-ITX solutions vendor do is
provide something like
If the board is untouched (no parts removed) then it's possible
that board version has the capacity to cross-code tones when

Not too long, about 12-inches will do fine.

So would this board be an encode-only board or decode-only? I fear
encode only...

Does anyone know if there is a source for freeware programming software
for the Motorola GP300, GP350, and the Kenwood TK390? I am also in
need of the cables/hardware?
Thanks

Re: Repurposing Mitrek PL Board?
The typical mobile two-way radio including the Mitrek is a
half duplex operation. During receive the board decodes the
ctcss tone and provides a logic line output to turn on the
audio amplifier (speaker audio).
Note at least one contact pin of the board
