Mike, Did you just build up these repeaters? If so, you need to remember to install a load on the audio output of the receiver audio amplifier. This can be placed at the speaker connections. If there is not an 8 Ohm load on the audio output, it will produce a low level oscillation in the audio

Thanks to all that replied with suggestions for my linking problem. With all the answers you gave I was able to resolve the problem. The first mistake was in one radio I forgot to put a load across the speaker connections as I wasn't using one. ( the other radio I did. must have been one of thos
