Recommend adding an /etc/init.d/boot.rivendell file which cleans up this
This is reproducible too.
I create a short log, one song and one chain to, closed RD, set the
clock to 5:50am, restarted RD and the two event log, watched it load the
days log after the song finished about 5:54am. I then waited until the
clock hit 5:59am and the timed make next marker, then the
Just a quirk in 1.7.2 I've noticed today,
My logs end at 10PM, with the last event being a segued chain to. It
then loads the next days log that starts in the 5 o'clock hour which has
a make next timed marker (not audio) at 5:59AM with a stop transition,
so it doesn't start until 5:59AM.

Is anybody using a creative X-fi sb1090? I plugged one in through jack but I
only get "system playback_1 and 2" showing up in jack. It's supposed to be 5.1
surround so am wondering where my other channels went.
Thanx beforehand for any insight.

A living log would even be better, where the changes are dynamically
saved to the database log.

Hi All,
In some upcoming release it would be nice to have a rml to save the
current playing log in rdairplay. That way the if you have to do a
update to that days log through rdlogedit the sequence numbers stay intact.

Contrary to the expectation of some this is not a reboot issue. I have over
three dozen dropboxes running (all very busy importing cuts - several that
are 30mins to 60mins long) and I open up rdadmin to add two more dropboxes.
Now all the carts that had running busy dropboxes are gone from the

In days of old, about four years ago or so, before the days
of kernel locking, standard practice for those things that needed

Two instances of RDAirPlay, yes. Most Rivendell modules support multiple
instances without difficulty.

What exactly *is* a lockfile and its purpose? Is this the sole mechanism that
keeps two instances of Rivendell from running?
And does it delete itself at the end of a session?

Have you checked for stale lock files ?

I have done that... it works now. Thanks!
I had no idea rdairplay created a lock file. I always thought it created a
process file in /var/run/rivendell which locked it up... and so I had tried
in the past to empty that directory.
But thanks!

I doubt very much that the plug-in had anything to do with the daemon startup

Hello,
There is a hidden file called .rdairplaylock (located in the home
directory of the user rivendell runs as) that you have to delete in
order to make it work. I believe RDAirplay, or your machine did not shut
down properly.
Hoggins!

I have been trying to get Rivendell working again. Starting about 2-3 days

process managers and there is NO rdairplay processes running! I even

When this happened did you see it in the syslog entries? Because I do
not see that happening here. If what you described was happening I would
