I started out a few years ago on an old version of the 32-bit appliance, which
I'm not sure is still around or in active development. The hardware world
moved ahead to 64-bit and so did RD, which isn't a bad idea; trying to do
modern things on 10-year-old hardware will just lead to problems.
You can download last QT3 sources from last official debian package tar.gz,
dsc etc... look for 'qt-x11-free' and build the package.
Then Rivendell should compile easily...

Debian 7: Not even officially
Hi,
When last I checked, Debian 7 did not have QT3, which Rivendell needs.
Debian dropped QT3 claiming that it is no longer maintained.
You can find qt3 for debian wheezy, sid and ubuntu quantal on our debian

Well the official Broadcast Appliance offered by Paravel Systems is
CentOS 5. Many people are using Ubuntu as well, but Im not sure that
there is a best Distro. Broadcast appliance is the easiest to get
going IMO.
Get it here: http://www.paravelsystems.com/appliance.html

Anyways, that's my choise of distro.
Packages are seldom updated and somehow outdated, but it has what I need

Well, compatible would be about any Linux based OS.
Most stable would be likely any commercially supported OS.
