The only advantage I can think of but its a major one is you can select which topics your interested in to save you downloading messages you don't want. Not all Sam users are interested in all sam subjects surely. As far as I know, most news clients do not do this, or at least

I received a phonecall from Duncan this morning telling me of Malcolm's passing. I'm sure that everybody is as deeply saddened as me to hear the news and our hearts go out to Dawn and the family. Malcolm's passion and unwavering commitment to both life and the Sam Coupe will be sadly missed.
