Hi List,
I've created an extensive how to for setup of clustered Samba on GPFS using
CTDB .
Can anyone suggest an appropriate forum to share this information .
Perhaps the Samba Wiki ?.

Dan,
Thanks very much !. Your suggestion worked a treat.
For everyone else's benefit . You need to set the
cifsBypassShareLocksOnRename flag on your GPFS Cluster.
You can do this by running the following command against the GPFS Cluster.

I'm currently using samba 4.0.9 / CTDB 2.4 on Centos 6.4 with GPFS 3.4.0-14.
my smb.conf is pasted below.

I know you are up to 3.6.8 now. Is it possible this was related to a bug

an easy process - so I figured I'd ask before I wasted my time.

Is it a problem to share a folder via Samba that is actually an NFS import from
another machine?
Looking at Samba documentation, it seems it shouldn't be. But I find only this
one reference to re-exporting an NFS import via Samba (this is under "Samba

If you figure this one out, please let me know. I've been trying to do
this for at least a year now with no luck.

I've never used Ubuntu; but I'd be surprised your Samba is really built
without SSL support, in fact, I think it is really your libldap that
is in question.
ldd /usr/lib/libldap.so reveals that it is not linked to libssl, while
it is on the server that has th

server. Does anyone have advice for using SSL with Samba/LDAP on Ubuntu
Hoary?
Thanks again,

Is there a related configuration setting that I'm overlooking? Samba /is/
compiled to use ldap:
$ ldd /usr/sbin/smbd | grep ldap
libldap.so.2 => /usr/lib/libldap.so.2 (0xb7fb1000)
Any help o

Can anyone explain how the SID is generated ?. Is there some kind of
Algorithm ?

I'm sure there's a simple resolution, and I'd appreciate any help on this.

Why not use winbind? If that doesn't suit your needs (maybe you need to
authenticate with both NIS from a UNIX box and Samba from a PDC) then try
combining them together with LDAP?

Sounds like you're suggesting mounting the share as an exported /home with NFS,
right? How are permissions handled then? Will user WINDOWS-DOMAIN\userA on
LinuxBoxA have the same UID/GID as on LinuxBoxB?
Thanks for the tip,
Ian
From: [EMAIL PROTECTE
as done an
excellent job at describing how to set up winbind auth, but then they stop
short at mounting home directories and print shares, both of which I would like
to have.
Any tips?
Thanks,
