share seems to work fine as I can the contents of
sub-folders.
My first guess is the user on the Windows machine doesn't have
permission to view those files on the unix filesystem level. Or they
match your veto files list.

you'll get the computer name. I'm not sure if it works, or something
similar, in earlier versions of windows.

Shouldn't the valid
users statement on the share override the directory permissions? Is it a
synatax issue? It should be a simple resolution but it's driving me nuts!
No smb.conf does not override filesystem permissions.

don't know if it would work but you could use the
preexec and the postexec commands to run the utility 'flip'. Flip
changes line terminations. So when a user logs into a share the line
terminations would change, and when they log out, it changes back..
