It's the curse of Hollywood and ethnocentricity. I often lament at remakes of
classic films from other shores. There's often a loss of the very essence of
the original book, screenplay, movie, when all the local culture and mores are
erased in favor of American stuff. Not that they all suck: I

subtle changes to the music to reflect that part of the story arc.
