Couple thoughts. Does your turbo spin easily? Both sides? Together? Is
the waste gate valve in the turbo closing completely? Sometimes a little
manifold heat riser solvent does wonders to free up the wastegate shaft. I

Timing belt. Could definitely be the timing belt. Pull the distributor and
crank the starter. If the rotor doesn't turn, then you'll be best served
going to the parts store and buying a timing belt. They aren't so bad to
do...
