Changing the bearings arent quite as easy as it looks. The races need to be replaced at the same time, or the bearings will wear out prematurely. On top of that, when you replace bearings, you change the clearances of the bearings, and there can be too much or not enough load on the bearings

Two years ago I replaced my clutch in my 87 t2 Daytona and saw the same thing. Took the differential assembly to a NAPA machine shop with a set of new bearings and 40 dollars later the old bearings were pressed out and the new bearings were in. Over it wasn't hard just tedious, didnt have to

Hi Bob, I did the diff bearings in my 523 when I had it pulled apart. The bearings had to be pressed off by a machine shop (I used my uncles) and the side play has to be adjusted with a spacer as I recall. Get a FSM and take a look, or go to the dealer and look at an exploded view of the diff to s
