expense to have repaired?

valve
guides WILL leak oil into the cylinder, and could be causing preignition.
Ping also has a numerous other causes...
You need a better diagnosis than 'ping' to pinpoint your problem.

Why do you think it is oil that is causing the ping? Did you pull the
spark plugs and see if they were oily or black and crudded up with
burnt oil res
