Here's a practical example that supports tflan's comments on swingweight vs.
total weight. I use a 52" driver that weighs 342 grams and swingweights at
G6. I also have a 36 1/4" weighted 5-iron (ala Momentus) that weighs 1181
grams but swingweights at G5.
My friends that swing my driver can't b
I would strongly suggest that you buy Tom Wishon's book on Practical Club
Fitting. He is probably the premiere authority on club fitting. Two club
maker organizations use his book as a reference for their certification
exams. He will tell you more than you can handle about total weight and
Does anyone know where I might be able to get a set of

but a Google search for the clubheads has turned up

The PST-K heads look like they came from the same

Rather than trial and error, consider it demoing, and yes, that is the best way to
determine it.
Build a demo club, get a roll of lead tape, get a friend to observe, and head to the
range.

I haven't looked at DT's site yet, but is it trial and error for me to figure out my
ideal overall weight? How would I know if D1 was better than a D5 besides taking it
out to the range?

Please don't let one person's opinion affect your postings. As many people

Just to add to Tflan's comments:
If you are a "wristy" player with a late release, a heavier swingweight
(above D5) probably won't work very well. If you are a smooth swinger who
just lets the head go when it's ready, just about any swingweight up into
the Es will work with some minor timing chan
Need to locate a "Cubic Balance" Driver shaft with a .480
tip. It is a bubble type shaft with two bulges in the length,
one near the tip the other around the grip area. This shaft is
not for myself but a local Pro who plays on the PGA Senior Tour.
What's most important? You'd get a lot of argument but consider this. You
can conceivably achieve a swingweight of say, D2, with a telephone pole for
a shaft. SW is a relationship between headweight, gripweight, and shaft
weight at the tip end. However, it would be pretty tough to swing a

Is it only by trial and error that someone figures out proper swingweighting for a
particular club? What would be more important--swingweight or overall weight?
Thanx
P.S. This is what I really wanted to know. I got confused when I asked the shaft
length question.

Lloyd,
Miscalculated the "clamp adjusted" frequencies by adding 3 CPM to your
numbers, when I should have added to my numbers. That means my clubs are
all stiffer than your recommendations by about 5-6 CPM on the long irons to
around 10 CPM on the PW. However, my woods are all still considerab
