It has been my experience that if you get probiotics that are alive
(refrigerated), and take them a few times a day, they will work in any
case.
For example, my son used to get severe (!) diarrhea from antibiotics,
and even when I gave acidophilous with the antibiotics, on an empty
stomach,
Is it correct that one should take these at different times so that the
CS does not destroy the probiotics?
Also, should you take probiotics WITH food or WITHOUT food? My ND always
said WITH food as the acid in the stomach would be too strong on an
empty stomach and kill much of it.

PJ,
kefir contains FOS, and more organisms than yogurt. You can also make it and
keep it going for a long time. It can even be non-dairy, if desired.

Thanks for the responses. I do make my own cs. Whenever I regularly take
a couple of ounces per day, my insides begin to get 'funny'. So I am thinking
that I need probiotics for it as I want the benefits of cs. I think I will try
the inexpensive probiotics mentioned. Thanks again. pj

How does one take cs internally and replenish the good 'flora and fauna'
without breaking the bank? Will good yogurt do the job?
This list did a survey a while back and found that problems with floura were extremely rare even with daily multiple high doses.
Something about the goodies being in the lower tracts where things are semi solid and isolates and limits the effects of CS unless it becomes liquid in cases of dysentar

If your only source of water is CS, then you might need some
probiotics. Otherwise, a little bit of CS (say, 4 ounces) isn'

Hello,
I am interested in probiotics, esp. the Essential (Beneficial) Microorganisms
of Dr. Teruo Higa of Okinawa. I am my own guinea pig in my own layman's
experiments, that is, drinking the stuff.
I wanted to see what CS does to my EM1 (80 microorganisms in five families,
