which supposedly has newer firmware for the 1535. I still have these sitting on
the shelf collecting dust since I've never found firmware which supports dns
srv on them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0euvNry0zuk apparently the GXV3140 can do
3 way vid conferencing too. Will be neat to try.
Are you still happy with the above phones?
Old thread but these things are still sitting on my shelf and am wondering if
anyone ever got their 1535's to work remote with

Hello,
I cannot manage to register my Nortel 1535 with SipXecs.

Anyone have the latest firmware for this? Seems a shame to have them sitting
here doing nothing.
They don't have DNS SRV capabilities so haven't used them. Hoping perhaps newer
software might give them this capability.

Did you get yours in yet? I'm not finding anything for SRV with these.

Boom, first problem, no built in web server. Oh the humanity... manual

Seems to register ok but it doesn't seem to support DNS SRV which would be an
issue.

We played with some granstream gsx3000 I think they were and they seemed to
work ok with sipx but the phones were very terrible quality. I'm looking for a
low cost phone for everyday users, not business users, and came across the
nortel 1535. Anyone try it, recommend it or something else which
poorly.

Correct, not for business use. When it comes to business, that's one thing but
for non business use, people are willing to put up with not so perfect. Problem
is finding that low cost solution that makes it worthwhile.

I pulled two 1535's off ebay for $80. That was about $ 75 too much in
my opinion.
I see some on there now.
Use a softphone/webcam or use the VVX if you want any kind of
dependability/quality. As with most things in life, you get what you
pay for.
