*if* I call phpinfo() from a normal URL, it has NO MySQL in it;
*if* I call phpinfo from PHPMyAdmin page (after authenticating), it does

again, it will be rather narrow interest site, so, I don't expect much
usage.

You can also install the module from CPAN with the command perl -MCPAN -e shell

if I set ftp to log to '/home/username/www' will that overcome this issue ?
or, do I make root own all '/home/username' and, the user only owns
'/home/username/www' ?
