I went to the Apple store in Brighton and spoke to someone at the genius bar.
He told me what to do - reinstal Elements, untick a box telling it to share
files with iPhoto etc. I reinstalled, checked preferences and didn't find a
suitable box but it all seems to be working fine this time... So I

which stops it rummaging through your Mac's disk and presenting all these image
files. I don't know what it might be labeled as but I'd expect it to be there
somewhere. That way you carry on using Photostream but don'
Thanks Stephen. I've done that as you suggested - but of course, now
photostream is presumably not working, which is a shame as I actually like it
- there must be a way of using photostream AND elements 11 - or are all users
of elements obliged to not use photostream??!!

Not, I don't think so.. I've just looked at preferences and I can't see what
setting would make it behave as it has.
