Greetings!
Tim McCann makes winch frames. The Winch Doctor makes winches, although
his web page isn't working right now.
I have
to say the folks at Superior Balsa have been the best supplier for me. They give
me the best price, will cut to order, and have a complete line of glues,
reinforcements, and other building stuff. I buy wholesale and they are the only
company that discounts any size order over $25.00
I have one used set that has servos. I modified it to fit both the Victory C and the
Edge. I have a brand new special composite (uni-carbon) that is lighter and stronger
than anything out there. I also have a Victory Fuse with slide on nose cone.

Actually, it is the lack of a fuze hatch and having to essentially
disassemble the entire plane to do anything to the gear in the nose that was
the real headache (wing and stabs must come off, rudder must be disconnected
to slide the gear on the nose back to the wing saddle area.) On the other
I always wanted to use a table saw for this, but I never had one
available at the right time. You will need a blade that has a lot of
teeth and is very sharp, and use a slow feed rate. If you're going to
hit metal, I don't know what to suggest.
By the way, be careful when winching. If you want
Gents,
I have been following the discussion on how fast to fly. There is an
elegant graphical solution to this issue if you have a glide polar diagram
of a representative sailplane.
A glide polar is a graph that relates airspeed and sinkrate. These are
sometimes plotted with sink up and
Tom, these would not be Victory wings? Like them but not Victory wings...correct?

This is an EXCELLENT visual tool to help
make Blaine's math come to life while
sitting in the comfort of your computer
chair! No math needed, just click and watch
the animation. Then re-read Blaine's equations
he so kindly posted and see them come alive.
Mark Might be easier to shim the fuse with balsa, then cover it with thin
fiberglass cloth. ?? Jim

If there are no metal rods, etc. protruding from the roots, here is an easy
way: block up the panel to the suggested dihedral, say 4 degrees. Use a rule
of thumb that 1/16 rise in 3-1/2 is 1 degree. Pick a multiple of 3-1/2,
say 28 (8 multiple) at which point to do the blocking up. Thus 8/16 or

I am building a Great Planes Spectra electric powered 2 meter sailplane. I
have been flying R/C since I was young and am an experienced pilot. I was
wondering what peoples opinions are regarding the amount of polyhedral in the
wing. I know you need dihedral to induce roll on a rudder
A glide polar is a graph that relates airspeed and sinkrate.
For a good graphic of this take a look at:

These graphs also include the non parabolic portions of the
glide (power curve) (the parts in the stall regime).

Anyone out there knows of a magazine story or evaluation of
the FVK Electric sailplane, Simply the best 1.8 meter?
Please reply direct.
Many thanx.
Guy.
