Hi Gang,
Well it is finally done. Nearly 500 Mb of pictures, scans, catalogs,
sources
and info gathered from the IHLGF 2001 contest. Going fast!
It's on CD. Among the things I have on the CD are:

Hi Al,
That's a nice gift; I have one flying and one still in the box, WITH some
paperwork.
If you want me, I can scan it and mail it to you, but for starters, I seem
to remember my CG is at 80mm from the leading edge (you'll need quite some
extra lead in the nose aside from what's provided, eve

"it" meaning the wood, I guess, not the "Woodpecker Thingie" :-), and I know
now it's something to perforate s
First of all: Rank amateur here
but from what I've gleaned-- don't you set the CG on the spar to begin with,
to start out with an unspecified ship?
also-- how'd you get that nickname? 8)

This brings to mind a question. I'm thinking about adding a single servo to
the middle of my Spirit wing for spoilers . Is it OK
to cut the center out of the wing where the servo will mount? I would think
that would weaken the wing DRASTICALLY. I build all my wings one-piece if
that changes anythi
Have you carefully examined the linkage for any looseness or flex? If
you don't get rid of that it may not matter if you make the other
changes you were talking about. If you have it and eliminate it, maybe
you won't need any other changes. Try fixing the servo arm in place and

The biggest offender I have is that damn "woodpecker" thingy! But, the
good news is that the way you guys are going at it with soldering irons and
#11 blades, world over-population should soon no longer be a problem.

I was a big fan of the hs50, till Denny Maize turned me onto the little ball
bearing Picco/GWS ball bearing servo. Uses a bit more current, but it weighs
the same and is tighter and more powerful. With 2 ch, I still get 2 hr
flying from a 150ma pack.

Or even better. When an soldering iron falls between you´re legs. And you
sit in you´re shorts, beacause it´s hot outside. Do NOT smash the legs
together. It does hurt.

Dude
I tried that once, ran to the mailbox, It was terrible, the ice flew out
of my drink and everything! Biggest problem is if I fall down, it takes a
long time to stop rolling.

Slide a piece of rubber tubing, latex, over the handle. Cover the
coupling and it also helps keep it from loosening up. Gives a
better grip as well.

I've been re-sharpening my blades for about a year now. It's quicker
than changing 'em, and they sharpen keener than new.
A 2x6 fine stone sits at the edge of my bench. Very convenient and no
groping thru the rubble for it...

Don't bash your instincts, you're suppose to grab the handle silly. You were
just to fixated on the blade.
I'll tell you about dumb instincts and what not to do: when an xacto falls
in between your legs, don't smash your thighs together, spread 'em!

Better yet for those in the north east. Buy a box of 100 blades for $10 at
the WRAM show next year. I go through a minimu of 100 blades each year

Recommended solution is to mass-balance the ailerons with a
couple of ounces of lead at the tips. Failing that leave it
as is and we'll run a sweepstake at the Nats on whether it
holds together. :-)
