The only servo I have had fail was a Hitec HS 55, cost me a DLG. Two or
three other guys around here had them fail about the same time. Maybe
just a bad batch.

This event was held February 4, 2000, and Wil Byers of SEModeler made an
agreement with me to publish it in his mag, but he never did. So better
late than never, it can now be seen on my web site. It is listed on the
opening page directory, just click on the event listing.

Nathan,
Could you elaborate more as to what your failures were and what you felt
caused them? I would be interested in how many were caused by either
crashes or just plain hard landings at some of the rougher sites you guys
fly at like Vincent and Parker. Also, how many just failed under

I am just curious, not trying to raise doubt in your claim.
Well then, let's set things straight:
1. Unless it's another SWC update, virtually every post on RCSE is an
editorial style post. ie, an opinion.
2. In my opinion, servo failure is when a servo breaks, as in, ceases to
work

The photon short kit is $300. The completed kit is $400.
No one at Pierce flies the simply the best anymore. Most people
flying hlg there are using the photon, and no one is flying a javelin

For the record. Mr. B Yen is incorrect in his comments re the Photon.
The Photon is currently $ 400 for a complete airframe, and $ 300 for an
unfinished model. The wing is built in the old eastern block and is hi

Have I just been lucky so far, or are there some horror
stories lurking out there concerning these servos?
Good golly no. No horror stories here. I've only had ONE failure in 23
years! I consider that Great.
Notice I didn't mention the servos that have been broken in combat, crashes,
etc...

Can anyone describe how to use the Stylus trainer cord? I don't see
anything in the manuals about setting it up.

Title: Hitec servo and receiver connector orientation
I am used to Futaba servo to radio connectors are keyed. My just arrived hitec servos and receiver don't use keyed connectors. Hence my question: what is the proper way of orienting the servor connector to the receiver?

They connect the same as the Futaba. Signal wire is inside -or top for slimline-(orange/Hitec, white/Fut) and the black goes to the outside -or bottom- .
