I acquired a older, composite Esteem without a wing rod. While trying to
match one up, I noticed that a wing rod only goes about 5 inches into the
tube before hitting some kind of plug. Did this plane use a really short
carbon tube spar, or just a short wing rod? Thanks, Rich.

Put the CG where you like it first. Move the towhook forward until the launch suits
you. Some folks like the hook farther back to get quick rotation, but they have to
apply down elevator to keep from popping off. With an aft CG (behind the neutral
point) the towhook may wind up being well
We had problems with a new Airtronics Stylus System with random glitches with JR341 and 351 servos in the wing of a Graphite. The System was returned to Airtronics for warranty repairs and that cured the problem. I believe we were told that a crystal was replaced.

Thanks for the responses.
I checked with the manufacturer and he gave me some things to look at. I'm
pretty sure the problem is the tow hook itself. On close inspection, it
appears to be angled away from the fuze ever so slightly. I have put a
little more bend in it and am ready for a re-test
Try launching without any flap., It should go up nicely, but not at real
high AOA. Now, add flap a little at a time. You'll prab need to add some
elevator correction to keep the nose under control. My guys tell me,
watch the plane. When it starts to do something not in the 'plan',
correct
One trick that helped me was to stomp on the switch and then throw as
hard as I could, horizontally, before too much tension built up. This
gets you some airspeed before you get lots of line tension trying to
pull the nose up. You might try throwing the model without a winch until
you can throw
I had the same problem with a plane and was at the point were I was
puting down trim on launch and it still was hit and miss on
launches. Then one of the members in our club in Bakersfield asked
is your tow hook open or closed? What he ment was is the angle of

I need to get set up with an alternate frequency, so I need another
frequency module for a Futaba 8UHFS Tx. I could order from Tower, but if
there are any small vendors that carry these, let me know.
I will also need some Hitec Rx crystals to match.

The information in this
Every plane launches different.
EG The Shadow has the tow hook 1/4 behind the CG
My Extreme has it right on the CG
My Stork has it 1/8 in front with 1/16 of down trim and 3/4 flap and 1/4
camber.
Most of my pop offs were at the point where I started pulsing the winch.

Boy, this rings a bell. Not that shellac is actually used much for these
purposes, but it's downright *attractive* to fruit flies. They just cover
the stuff. It adds texture, you know.

Dave,
I've had this problem before. Probably the tow hook angle to the fuse. It
needs to be parallel, or even a little bit closed. I also went to a small
notch in the hook which really did the trick. You just have to make a
strong zoom so you don't get hung up.
Another thing could be how
