[RCSE] RE: WTB light standard class glider for slope

2004-08-03 Thread Nathan Woods
Jeff, I have the model for you. The 2M Whisper is probably ideal based on your parameters. But first, let's talk about the Opus. The Opus is hot little slope racer, designed for speed and heavy wing loading. It has an RG-14 airfoil, and really does not like to slermal (slope/thermal=light

Nathan, There's more than one Opus out there. The Opus he was referring to is on the nesailplane website and is not the molded slope rocket we know and love -l -Original Message- From: Nathan Woods [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, August 02, 2004 11:43 PM To:

2004-08-03 Thread Bill Swingle
Yes, I know the RG14 is considered a racing airfoil. I've used it at heavier wingloadings and agree. A good choice. HOWEVER, I've also used the 14 at lighter wingloadings and found it to be delightful. It handled light slope lift well and caught a few thermals too. When it wouldn't fly, only

Guys, Weird, and confusing, how many planes are out there that share the same name isn't it? I have to agree with Bill on the RG-14. It thermals just fine. It needs a bit different style that a floater, true, but it really performs well when flown properly. My Opus DS V is a heafty 57 ounces but

I used rounding in the 2M event. Do not think that Chuck was there. Chuck may have some pointed needles here, if the event needs to change to keep up with technology someone needs to write a rules change proposal. It is obvious to anyone who flew there that safety was a major concern of the crew

While I may not like it, it makes sense to have the landing pattern the way it is. Yes it can be subjective, BUT... I believe that it is necessary for the safety of all. I believe Martin ( who I thought was fair) gave warnings first, then sanctions, UNLESS you were in extereme violation. If we

Thanks TK for posting the scores! There is one award this year I am particularly proud of, I was a member of the first place Dan Pruss team contest. TK, Steve Meyer and I teamed up, and I think we are the first SOAR team ever to win this award... that is special because Dan Pruss was a SOAR
