The first one my brother Scott Allen uses.. Its a Hanger 9 Super Cub that they

Here is a link to Zip Charging on RC Groups...
Dan Baldwin of Baldwin controls makes a board to cut off voltage so you don't
over charge your packs... Great thing is... No charger needed only a length of
lamp cord to control the amps.. Longer cord for wimps or a short cord for us
with Kahonas
So tomorrow is the last day you can get your nats paperwork in by.
The post mark must be by June 1st and since it is a Sunday ... that
means that tomorrow is the last day.

I use 123 cells and they are great for sport flying. You can charge them up at
up to 40 amps.. YES 40 amps with a zip wire... I use 2 deep cycle 12v battery's
in series with 8ft of lamp cord to charge 6cell packs in 10 - 12 min. They
actually get better over time and seem to like being abused...
I am very aware of the A123 cells. I have chargers that will charge them. But
that does not prevent me from learning from others.
If someone chose a particular technology which is different from what I would
choose, I like to understand why. This is how I learn new things.
"Why" is a very power

Gordy,
WOW, Poway, isn't that out of your league?? No doubt, you will be
flying the "World's Heaviest DLG", and I thought I was the only one to
be doing that!
Really, I do not see you listed on the Pilot's Roster???
Let's NOT see you fly "Senior" class!
I'll be there!

I believe the A123's are Lithium Ion Nanophosphate, not Lithium
Polymer. Their biggest feature is that they can be charged faster
(3-4C, IIRC) and allow very high discharge rates (30C, with 60C
burst), and are much more chemically stable than LiPos. There was a
video on the 'net of an A123 cell p
Dave,
Congratulations on the success of your new mini-AVA. I am curious about the
choice of the A123 cells.
If I understand the product, these are sub-C size cells and would seem large and
heavy. However, clearly your AVA is not heavyweight.
But why A123 vs. Lipo? Was it size, shape, cost or
That was quite awhile ago and I finished it and tried to fly it in a
not-so-good place a long way from the actual slope lift. It never got out
far enough and I have a little fixing to do. Sooo... to answer your
question I have no idea how it flies and probably won't for another
