Hello both,
Thanks again for your replies. It is very hard to pin point the exact
source of the tone. Depending on how I hold the dB meter it might come
from inductor L30 or capacitor C427, or something in between. At one

Hello,
My NET6501 runs quite well except for a very annoying high-pitched tone
originating from the board (sometimes). Since I intend to use this
computer in my hifi setup, well, it's a bit problematic.
I've got an external 12v power supply some distance away from the board,
so that isn't creatin
Hello,
I recently upgraded my net5501 running Voyage Linux MPD. This new
version replace legacy PATA drivers with libata a.o. Since then, sound
played through a usb-dac is frequently distorted with cracks and
stutters, especially with high resolution files. The files are stored on
a sata drive.

Hello ED, Martin,
Thanks for your replies. It seems the SSD is the guilty part in all
this. I guess I'm gonna need to replace the SSD if I want to fix this
issue (or just accept a failed boot once in a while... we'll see).
Kind regards, Maarten

Hello all,
I recently installed Voyage Linux MPD 0.10.0 (Debian Jessie) on a

at grub command line (grub>). After entering 'root (hd[tab]' it gives me

Hello all,
I'm installing a new heatsink on my net6501 and I'm wondering whether I
should clean the cpu with alcohol before applying the new 'paste' and
heatsink? I've replaced a heatsink before but then a nice chip

Interesting and thanks for the picture. Does anyone know if it's
possible that replace the passive cooling before the board breaks d

Hello all,
I've been running Voyage Linux + MPD on a net5501 for little over 2
years now, and it has been running great. However, since a couple of
months I've been noticing glitches in playback. It wasn't that often so
I didn't bother to look into it. However, it has gotten worse and there

Pardon my ignorance, but do I interpret this as TX,RX at minimal ±5V but
typical at ±5.4V?

Hello all,
Does anyone know on the Net5501 what voltage levels both serial ports
use for their outputs/TXD? I'm pretty sure the first serial port uses TI
model 'MAX3243C'. Of the second I'm not sure but I suspect it to be
National model '87366fg r/k1'. Nonetheless, even with this information I

There is an updated version available at the address below. It required
a minor fix but otherwise seems to run perfect.

Howdy all,
I'm trying to read out the temperature sensor of a net5501 box, running
Linux kernel 2.6.38. Unfortunately the script written by Meduna and
Hajnal (patch) doesn't work/compile no longer (see links below for the
original script and patch). Apparently ioctl is removed from the kernel

Hello all,
I want to hook up a 3.5" Samsung HD204UI hdd to the 12/5V internal power

know whether I potentially can damage the board by doing that.
Obviously, the hdd is build to work at a higher ampere than the 1A

Dear all,
Currently I am experimenting with the net5501 and I have a few question
on its Sata behaviour.
I am running it with a Samsung HD204UI 2TB 2.5" and as expected it
doesn't show up in the bios on boot, however, after a reboot it does
show. I guess this makes sense. As the disk is already s

Dear all,
I am wondering if anyone on this list has any experience with running
recent versions of Voyage Linux on the Net5501 board. I want to run an
MPD server and this distribution seems to be well suited, however, on
the Voyage mailinglist there seems to be little experience with Soekris

Dear all,
I am planning to buy the Net5501 and as I have no experience at all with
these kind of devices I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a CF

Dear all,
I was wondering if anyone knows whether the Net5501 can supply enough
power to feed a Samsung Ecogreen F4 HD204UI 3.5" hdd (if it helps, I

quieter, I presume also would make it more energy efficient).
