Hi David...
Thanks for the info. I suppose my concern about Soekris can be
summarized as 'device support'. I understand that the target market
is communication and routing appliances -- whereas I'm looking for an
embedded platform capable of communications via SCSI first and
foremost, and Et
While I can appreciate that Soekris systems can work with T1's and
DSL lines, their function in that case is still limited to routing
packets and providing rudimentary services.
I'd like to hear from others who might be using SCSI cards, sound,
video, etc, with their Soekris systems. I'm curio

The sangoma card is basically obsolete now. It does not support ADSL2+.
The new chips that support ADSL2+ are mostly integrated packages with
ethernet and USB ports builtin. Some even have MIP
Guess I'm using the card for some pretty weird stuff.
I have Net4801's that I use for some remote telemetry systems and
Automatic Vehicle Location and WiFi tracking systems.
For the Vehicle tracking systems, each device has a Axiom GPS connected
to the internal serial port, as well as Atherons WiF

On that Soekris (which at the moment is in fact sitting unused in a
drawer) I've installed Linux 2.4.31. I've used it for approximately 8
month

These are perhaps more examples of what you call network routing, but a

Excellent. Thanks for clearing the bit about the 5v conectivity up.
I'm still very curious about the rest of the specs for using PCI cards.
I'd be interested in hearing from anyone using a non-network
(lan1641, etc.) PCI card with any of the Soekris line to extend its
functionality beyond netw
It would be for people that want to connect a regulated 5V feed directly to
the board (to power the Soekris). My guess is for particular applications /
appliances where you already have a PSU that is powering other devices in a
small chassis. Make sense?

If you'll forgive an obvious question, have you considered a USB-SCSI
adapter? Would that do the
Hi.
I'm interested in connecting a SCSI card to a Soekris 4801 or one of
the new 5501's to manage a tape library. It would replace the large,
heavy, and hot server that currently manages it.
The question is:
Is anyone else using a Soekris board with a SCSI card?
