Wim, It's possible I was running 1.32i, but I have since discarded my notes on the BIOS upgrade so I can't give you a straight answer, sorry! Are there any work-arounds for FreeBSD-70 systems in the interim until a BIOS fix is released? Since the box will hang after losing power, this would obviou

Hello, Well I tried 1.33c on my 5501 with my Transcend TS4GCF266 CF and it made things worst. I was unable to get FreeBSD to boot - it always hangs at mountroot saying it can't find the root device. When the 5501 is cold booted I get about a 10-15 sec pause before it recognizes the CF device w

Hi Eternity, In addition to everything proposed so far: take a look at "disk geometry issues" on the Soekris Wiki. Those may also cause problems with GRUB. If that is the problem, just boot with Lilo or Syslinux (which is the smallest boot loader for Linux I think, an at least the easiest to conf

Don't use Grub. It is way too beefy for what you need. Use syslinux! It's much simpler, and easier. Additionally, it is far more mature than the grub project. Eternity wrote: > Hi! > > I have a problem with a whole bunch of NET5501:s. I have read some posts > with similar problems, but not exac
