Hi Simon,
We will continue to contribute to ExocortexCrate as need be. The
Alembic suite though is a fairly complete product at this point -- the
only major exception is Custom Attributes in Maya. We would though be
looking for consulting work from studios that need non-trivial
features added to
Thanks, very generous!

Very Nice Ben!
This is so great - Since we are still on SI2014 and miss a abc-io-feature.

So much better than the basic alembic in 2015
Thank you Ben,

I use both actually.
Because crate can't import/export everything.
And on the other hand the si implementation can't neither.
Mostly happend for abc's from houdini which didn't come in correctly with
crate.

Hi Ben,

served well

Well that's certainly good news, we've had a few licensing issues with a
certain machine which refused to pick up a read license, fudging our
renders on a regular basis. With a free version that will all be history I
hope... =)
Has there been any updates to the suite over the last year?

There has been a few updates and bug fixes, but nothing
groundbreaking. That is one of the reasons it was hard to turn this
into an ongoing revenue stream, there just wasn't much room for major
features to spur upgrades/subscriptions.
Fixed. :) Thx.

Fury works in Maya. Slipstream doesn't -- we tried a couple years ago
to make a Maya port but the Maya particle system is really slow. For
the same reasons the Fury port to Maya is slow as well -- or the
particle systems you want to drive Fury with are hard to create.
Which negatively impacts the
Reason I'm asking is that Slipstream is really useful for certain things,
but collisions and shedding hasn't worked for a long time, I get instant
crashes if I enable it. It would be too bad if it was never fixed.
Personally, I don't care about Maya support though.

I've been very busy lately so I'm a little late to this thread. But I have
to say that this is the best Christmas present ever! Especially because the
AD implementation of Alembic in 3ds Max is a total joke and completely
useless.
You rock Ben!
Have a Merry Christmas!
